Shrink discs are shaft-hub connectors that are tight-fitting, friction-locked and flange-shaped. Far more powerful compared to typical shrink fits or similar connectors, made for heavy machinery such as for mining and related industries.
Shrink disc connections are frictional shaft-hub connections for backlash-free fastening of hollow shafts or hubs on shafts.
TAS Schaefer is the world market leader in hydraulic shrink discs.
Due to the oil pressure, hydraulic shrink discs can be tightened in just a few minutes, thus offering an enormous time advantage and significantly reducing the workload for the fitters. The 2-piece shrink discs (torque-controlled) do not have a fixed defined thrust travel, thus they are able to compensate for a larger fitting clearance during assembly. The clamping screws of the 2-part shrink disc (torque-controlled) are tightened evenly in sequence until the specified screw tightening torque is reached. Only when this assembly condition is reached is it ensured that the torques specified in the catalogue can be transmitted.
The General applications of 3-part shrink discs, 2-part shrink discs (path-controlled) and 2-part shrink discs (torque-controlled) are, however, mostly the same.
Hydraulic shrink discs are often used in test stands, wind turbines or hydraulic motors.
