Stieber Built In Freewheels NFR
A bearing-supported, roller-type freewheel supplied without sealing
Type NFR is a bearing-supported, roller-type freewheel supplied without sealing. Lubrication and sealing must be provided by the installation, with oil used as standard lubrication. Sizes 8 to 20 utilise steel-on-steel bearing support from the inner race. For sizes above 25, two 160 series ball bearings are incorporated, allowing for higher overrunning speed capacity. A typical installation arrangement is shown in the technical documentation.
The inner race is keyed to the shaft, while the outer race has a positive n6 tolerance to achieve a press fit in an H7 housing. Additional side notches are provided for positive torque transmission. The housing must be sufficiently rigid to prevent expansion after assembly.
