ISB SG Series Slewing Drives
Suitable for industrial, mobile, and automation applications requiring controlled rotation and high holding torque.
The ISB SG Series Slewing Drives are compact, high-performance worm-driven units designed for precise rotary motion under heavy loads. They provide excellent rigidity, positioning accuracy, and protection against environmental conditions.
Key Features
- Integrated worm gear slewing system
- Cast iron housing for strength and durability
- Enclosed lubrication system
- High positioning accuracy (≤ 0.15°)
- High holding and self-locking capability
- Corrosion-resistant sealing system
- Compact, space-saving design
- Optional encoder and customised finishes
Selection Guidelines
Output torque is calculated from friction torque and operating resistance. Input torque must include a safety margin of 40–100% depending on duty cycle. When selecting an SG Slewing Drive, ensure:
- Load capacity meets axial, radial, and moment requirements
- Output torque exceeds application demand
- Input torque is within allowable limits
- Operating speeds are within rated values
Construction
Designed to ensure smooth operation, long service life, and resistance to dust and moisture. Each SG Series unit consists of:
- Cast iron housing
- Slewing ring and raceway
- Worm gear drive system
- Labyrinth sealing system
- Motor adapter flange
- Optional encoder

- Cast iron housing
- Slewing ring
- Raceway
- Labyrinth monolithic seal
- External companion flange
- Drive (hydraulic motor / electric motor
- Motor adapter
- O-ring
- Input hole
- Shaft opposite to motor
- End cap
- Cover
- Encoder (optional)
Drive Options
ISB SG Slewing Drives can be powered by:
- Hydraulic motors (standard interface)
- Electric motors with gearbox (via adapter flange)
Both configurations allow rigid or flexible coupling depending on application requirements.

Load Capability
Each model includes verified static and dynamic load charts for safe sizing and application. Technical verification is recommended for suspended loads. Designed to handle combined loads:
- Axial loads (Fa)
- Radial loads (Fr)
- Tilting moments (Mf)
Maintenance
Operating Temperature
- Drive: –30°C to +60°C
- Grease: –40°C to +200°C
Maintenance Guidelines
- Insufficient lubrication is the most common cause of failure
- Full re-lubrication recommended every 3 years
- Do not clean using high-pressure water or steam
