Overland Conveyor Backstop Upgrade
Reliable backstop replacement delivered within a critical timeframe to support the assembly of a major overland conveyor system.
Problem
During the assembly of a large overland conveyor, a Tier 1 mining company identified that a critical clutch component required replacement. With the project operating to a strict schedule, the replacement solution needed to be sourced quickly while providing the reliability and performance required for a heavy-duty conveyor application.
Solution
Our Wangara branch supplied a RINGSPANN Internal Freewheel as a direct replacement for the failed clutch. Internal freewheels are commonly used as backstops in conveyor systems, preventing reverse rotation and protecting equipment from rollback in the event of a shutdown or power loss. Their robust design, high torque capacity and maintenance-friendly operation make them well suited to demanding mining conveyor applications. Working closely with the client, we ensured the replacement unit was supplied within the required project timeframe to avoid delays during conveyor assembly.

Outcome
The replacement freewheel was delivered and installed within the required timeframe, allowing the conveyor project to proceed without significant disruption. The upgraded backstop solution provided reliable protection against reverse rotation, supporting safe and dependable operation of the overland conveyor system while meeting the performance requirements of the mining application.
